Trends of Spring/Summer’12

As we wait for the unveiling of the Fall/Winter 2012 collection by top designers, I felt it would be witty to trace back all the trends of Spring and Summer. To be fair, I’m never really that keen on Spring/Summer trends, but this year, I was wowed. From Prada’s fiery footwear to Louis Vuitton’s demure bags, let’s have a look at the themes covered this year, shall we?

To be frank, studs aren’t my thing at all, but seeing them on the runway, packed with a certain subtlety has certainly changed my mind. Constantly seeing gold or silver studs against black, stumbling upon nudes with studs got me howlin’. I am absolutely in love with the beige Anya Hindmarch clutch pictured top left.

 

It looks like top-handle frame bags are irresistibly desired this season. Absolutely feminine, these delectable arm candies come in a palette of powder blues, pastel pinks, mint green and good old fashioned nudes. Carry these bags held neatly in the palm of your hands, or snagged around your arm, and you are immediately morphed into a demure darling!

My favorite just happens to be Furla’s Candy Bag Collection. Can you tell which?

Prada and Miu Miu dominate this title. Florals were all over the place – from appliques on coats and playsuits, all the way to embroidery on bags and shoes. Miu Miu’s experimented Western-turned-folk art designs were plentiful of inspiration, making it a unique take on floral designs while Prada gave 50′s greasers and pin-up girls a taste of modern futurism.

Gold is such a timeless color, fit for every season. I mean it. Gold wouldn’t be my choice for jewelry, but when it sparkles on a clutch or bag, you’ll get me hooked! Uniquely versatile, go nuts by pairing a golden, shimmery dress or take the chic route in a white pant-suit with gold top or gold accessories.

Clutches are all the rage. From Rebecca Minkoff’s ikat prints to the elegant pearls sported on the Chanel runway, a clutch is guaranteed to take your outfit up a notch. Whether minimal or maximal, a chic clutch speaks for itself and will reign as your BFF! Indulge in the gorgeous designs by Chanel and the funky ones the rev-it-up like Prada.
