Slow down, Kuala Lumpur!

I’m back from Melbourne. Epic Sadness Monster for me since I had a wonderful time there and I’m kinda enjoying the cosmopolitan vibe. Sure Kuala Lumpur is about the same, but who doesn’t like walking through back-alleys and still feel safe? I do! And go to underground bars to watch sick bands play in their rugged drunkedness? That’s a hell yea for me. Long story short, I miss Melbourne. I do miss the winter, and I miss the cafes, bars and restaurants that are just ridick! But then again, the grass is always greener on the other side, right? You know you’re back in Malaysia when you see dirty toilets and your body starts to get all sticky-icky.
With all said and done, it’s still awesome to be back. Not even a week, and I’m filled a tight schedule. On Saturday (tomorrow), I’m getting up early to head on down to Nuffnang Malaysia Blogopolis, which I am guessing will be worth my RM180. Tickets are unfortunately sold out, but I was lucky that someone contacted me in the nick of time to get my grubby fingers on one, so do expect some pictures, folks! My schedule does not stop there as Sunday just happens to be orientation day. Thank god for personal reminders via and email and text from Wawasan Open University or else I would be sleeping in and then beating myself up. Which is really why I decided to stay in and mentally contain myself with some exquisite instant coffee and some Nutella toast. How to get over a vacation, am I right? Soon, I will begin my journey as a Liberal Studies major! Woot!
But oh, how much I miss Melbourne! The effortless walks down the busy yet relaxed streets, the sushi hand-rolls, and oh my god, the food. I would never leave the supermarket. How is it that you can buy all your health-conscious foods and nasty candy bars in the same place! Malaysia, you need to start stocking up on some Low G.I. food! I mean, seriously. I had no idea what Low G.I. was until I opened a jar of whipped Peanut Butter!
I also did quite a bit of shopping at the thrift stores, getting my hands on some gorgeous chunky bangles, heaps of music CD’s, chocolate, and I finally had the chance of popping into a Lush outlet for the first time ever! Money well-spent, I would say.
I’ve decided to showcase some pictures I took. This is just a small portion of them, but I hope you will enjoy them. I also had the pleasure of seeing Castlecomers on an acoustic set on the way to Flinder’s Station and because I’m such a sucker, I bought their cd, Danny’s Den. They lean towards a folksy rock, sounding like Mumford & Sons and the Fleet Foxes. Soo good! Definitely take the time to check them out here. I had also paid to attend their gig on Chapel Street on the same night, but I was too late. Pout.
In the meantime, I hope everyone has a swell weekend, as mine will be filled with beneficial activities that I am totally excited about. Also, please check out my other baby, Tape and Shuffle to have a listen at my soundtrack for my trip to Melbourne called The Melbourne Shuffle. If you find something you like, you can also download it with a right-click of your mouse and then hit Save Link As.
Enjoy your weekend, dolls!

Great photos and nice reminiscing on being in Melbourne…I have always wanted to visit Australia!
You should definitely go. I’ve never been to the States, but Australia’s just brimming with so many culinary wonders.
